Google's Pixel 8 steps up the game in smartphone photography with its latest AI-enhanced camera updates. It offers substantial improvements, including the Magic Editor and DSLR-style manual controls, promising a new level of versatility in picture editing and photography.

Leak reveals AI integration in Pixel 8

The eagerly-anticipated camera specifications and an AI promotional video for Google's Pixel 8 were unveiled by 91Mobiles, thanks to industry insider Kamila Wojciechowska. This revelation provides a sneak peek into how Google plans to further incorporate AI technology into its premier smartphones, promising a paradigm shift in mobile photography.

Magic Editor: Your personal photoshop tool

Magic Editor, a standout feature announced by Google earlier this year for select Pixel phones, is like Magic Eraser on steroids. This cutting-edge tool allows users to manipulate and perfect their photographs, creating images that perfectly capture their vision. It's like having a personal photoshop assistant in the palm of your hand.

The promotional video also showcases the Pixel 8's new DSLR-style manual camera controls. These features go beyond the standard tap-to-focus mechanism seen in most built-in camera apps, allowing users to adjust shutter speed, ISO, and focus through a convenient slider. This level of control means even casual photographers can capture professional-quality images.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro: A closer look at the specs

Specifications revealed by Wojciechowska indicate that the Pixel 8 Pro will boast a superior camera system, featuring a new 48MP ultrawide camera with a 125.5-degree field of view, a 48MP telephoto lens, and a 50MP wide camera. Impressively, the Pixel 8 will also come equipped with a 12MP ultrawide camera similar to the one found in the Pixel 7 Pro, but with a significantly enhanced field of view, increasing from 114 degrees to an expansive 125.8 degrees.
